Toyota Connect is a cloud based platform that provides telematic services such as 24×7 navigation, 24×7 road assistance using GPS and booking service appointment.
Toyota showcased the second generation Innova Crysta at the 2016 Auto Expo along with some other interesting vehicles such as the hydrogen powered Mirai, Prius and Camry Hybrid. However, the company has not only showcased vehicles but has also announced the Toyota Connect telematic services for India.
The Toyota Connect is a cloud based platform that along with its call center is integrated with the dealership network which provides a number of services like booking a service appointment, checking progress of the service, e-payment, 24×7 assisted navigation with traffic updates and 24×7 road assistance based on GPS location which can be availed using a smartphone application.
The services will begin in mid-2016 and India will become the 11th country to get Toyota Connect which was first launched in Japan in 2002. The automaker claims that the vehicle’s location and other data is perfectly secure in the platform while it aims at making the customer’s ownership experience hassle-free and enjoyable.
The Toyota Innova is the favourite choice of cabbies and the new platform for telematic services will be of great help to them as they take long trips and can find some help in case of emergencies. Honda also launched a similar application recently called the Honda Connect app which can be used to track the car and get details about the vehicle’s health and more.
These applications and telematic services are offered with a view to improve the ownership experience as everything related to the vehicle is on your fingertips. Other manufacturers are expected to launch their services soon as most of them are already offering these services in foreign markets since a long time.
