The October 2020 SUV sales chart shows that Hyundai Creta kept its momentum going, to sell 14,023 units in the month.
While the number itself is very good, the midsize SUV also posted a 93 percent year-over-year (YoY) growth rate. The car was followed by the Kia Seltos, 8900 units of which was sold.
In a distant third came the Mahindra Scorpio with 3961 units added to its tally, while MG sold 3625 units of the Hector this past month.
Rounding up the top five was the Maruti S-Cross, 2526 units of which were retailed, a solid 86 percent YoY growth. Tata Harrier, with 2398 unit sales, came in at sixth place and it too reported a high YoY growth rate (91 percent).
Soon to be replaced Mahindra XUV500 sold 1009 times over, followed by the Jeep Compass with 832 units and the Renault Duster (362 units) and all three cars saw sales decline over the same period last year.
In terms of overall sales, the cars in the list cumulatively sold over 38,000 units, which was 12 percent better than the same period last year.
It was the Toyota Fortuner which once again lead its segment in the October 2020 SUV sales with 1472 unit sales.
But, second-placed Ford Endeavour, with 852 units, had a better growth rate with 22 percent as opposed to the Fortuner’s 13 percent.
Then came the Volkswagen Tiguan with 170 units, followed by the Hyundai Tucson with 87 units. Both cars bettered their sales registered in the same period last year.
Last two spots were occupied by the Mahindra Alturas G4 with 69 units and the Honda CR-V with 31 units and both models saw their sales decline with respect to their October 2019 numbers.
Overall, the cars in the segment sold 2681 units, which will likely be better next time around when MG reports the official sales figures of the Gloster. The carmaker has so far stated that the first 2000 units of the SUV have already been sold.
