It is the Honda Activa that leads the December 2020 scooter sales, but this time around, the automaker sold vastly reduced number of units of the very popular scooter.
While over 2.25 lakh units of the Activa got sold in November 2020, the sales figure in December stood at 1,34,077 units.
Suzuki’s Access rose to occupy the second spot in December, relegating the TVS Jupiter to third as the Japanese scooter garnered 40,154 unit sales this past month.
The Jupiter managed to lure in a good number of customers too. However, its 38,435 units, was far lesser than the 62,626 unit sales it recorded in November last year.
Fourth-placed TVS NTorq garnered 25,692 unit sales with a 22 percent growth year-over-year (YoY), followed by the Honda Dio with 22,025 units to its name.
Up next comes the Hero Pleasure, which was ridden home by just over 19,000 customers this past month. The scooter also saw its sales rise by a solid 68 percent YoY.
Yamaha’s Ray and Fascino occupy the seventh and eighth positions in the December 2020 scooter sales chart. While the Ray, with 8690 units, saw its sales figure boom by 96 percent, the Fascino on the other hand saw negative growth to the tune of 24 percent.
In ninth place is Hero MotoCorp’s Destini 125, 5789 units of which were sold in December 2020, a 71 percent YoY growth. Tenth and final spot was taken by the Scooty Pep+ that recorded 4481 unit sales with a -37 percent YoY growth.
Only 2 models, in the sales list – Fascino and Scooty Pep+ – registered negative growth, while all others fared better than the same period the year before. Overall sales of the vehicles in the list crossed 3.04 lakh units, with an 8 percent YoY growth.
