There are no surprises in the November 2020 hatchback sales, with Maruti Suzuki Alto, as usual, dominating the small car segment with aplomb.
Over 15,300 units of the Alto got sold during last month, with the model even witnessing marginal growth year-over-year (YoY).
Up next is another car from Maruti, the S-Presso. It is still as popular, selling just over 7000 units, while the Renault Kwid once again managed to do decent numbers.
None of the models in the hatchback segment changed positions in November and occupied the same spot as they did in October.
Maruti’s Swift led the way with 18,498 unit sales, followed closely by the Wagon R which did 16,256 units, a 11 percent YoY growth. The Grand i10 and NIOS duo, that came next, managed to rake in just below 11,000 unit sales.
Celerio is still going strong despite its replacement having been spotted umpteen times now, and following the Maruti car is Tata’s own Tiago which raked in 5890 unit sales.
The Maruti Ignis (3935 units), Hyundai Santro (2822) were the other cars that cross the 4-digit mark, while the last two models in the list fared poorly.
Overall, cars in this particular segment saw a 5 percent YoY growth in cumulative sales that stood at over 65,000 units.
Once again, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno smashed all its competitors in the premium hatchback category, selling 17,872 units last month.
New arrival i20 managed to do solid numbers, but given the fact a well-equipped trim of the car costs as much as a C-segment sedan, it is unlikely to trouble the Baleno which costs less.
Altroz from Tata looks to have settled in the 6000 unit-mark, while next to it is the Toyota Glanza that saw its sales grow by a bit YoY, having sold 2428 units.
Only 4 units separate the Ford Freestyle and the Volkswagen Polo, while the Honda Jazz came dead last once again.
