July 2020 compact SUV sales have surged when compared to June 2020 sales, but the overall figures are less than what was witnessed last year. But the gap is not huge this time around.
First up comes Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza that leads the way by selling 7807 units in July, a 47 percent growth year-on-year (y-o-y). The compact SUV had sold 4542 times in June.
In second spot is the Venue with 30 percent less sales at 6734 units, followed by the Nexon at 4327 units, up by 29 percent. Both cars once again did well than in June this year.
Fourth spot was that of Mahindra’s XUV300 which reached 2519 customers with a de-growth of 44 percent. The tides might change for the car that has been named the safest vehicle made in India at the moment.
Ford EcoSport rounds up the list of cars in the July 2020 compact SUV sales list that fetched sales in four digits. However, it still saw de-growth, by 22 percent infact. However, when compared to June this year, the EcoSport saw numbers double.
Honda’s WR-V fetched 733 unit sales in July, not much of an improvement over last month and a 45 percent negative growth over last year. Finally, the TUV300 once again failed to attract any buyers in July as well.
Overall sales of the segment was 24,558, a reduction of 13 percent y-o-y, but a drastic increase compared to last month where the sales witnessed was just over 15,000 units.
What is evident is that auto sales is reviving thick and fast and with the introduction of new models, the compact SUV sales is expected to grow and reach acceptable levels.
