The top-selling 200-500cc bikes chart in November 2017 sees the usual Royal Enfield domination.
Compared to the month of September and October, November has been a pretty dry month for the entire two-wheeler industry in India, especially the 200-500cc segment of bikes. Except for two Royal Enfield bikes, rest all the players on the list have posted a negative growth in terms of sales.
Talking of Royal Enfield, there might be just five RE bikes on the list but these five bikes cumulatively account for over 70 percent of the sales of 200-500cc motorcycles. The company launched the 15 limited edition Classic 500 bikes this month which by the way have all been sold out in a matter of seconds.
Bajaj and KTM cumulatively hold an approximate 25 percent market share in the 200-500cc bikes segment in India. A total of 11,256 units of the Pulsar 180, NS 200 and RS 200 were sold in November while the Pulsar 220 and Avenger 220 managed to sell 5207 and 2874 units respectively.
Speaking of the Avenger, Bajaj is readying a new version of the cruiser motorcycle which is expected to be launched in January 2018. So, all you guys planning to buy a budget cruiser bike, watch out. Bajaj’s flagship bike, the Dominar, sold 1004 units in November. KTM sold 1966 units of the Duke and RC 200 while the Duke and RC 390 managed to find 430 homes in November.
The Yamaha FZ25 and Fazer 25 sold 2584 units. The BS4 Yamaha R3 and the Honda CBR250R are yet to see the light of the day. Hero discontinued the EBR-developed Karizma R and ZMR a few years back in India and is currently working on newer versions of the bikes.
Mahindra’s Mojo and Kawasaki’s Ninja 300 found 29 and 28 homes respectively while the Z250 didn’t find any takers. This list for the month of December could play a host to the recently launched Apache RR 310 if the company starts delivering the bikes as promised from 25th December.
