Top Selling 150cc Bikes In May 2017

Suzuki Gixxer vs Honda CB Hornet 160R

TVS Apache is the top-selling 150cc bike in May 2017 followed by its closest rival, the Pulsar 150.

The top-selling 150cc bikes list in May 2017 sees the TVS Apache taking the number one spot. The Apache selling at 37,151 units in May 2017 includes the Apache 160, Apache 180 and Apache 200, though my intention here is to focus only on 150 and 160cc motorcycles.

Selling 36,118 units, the Bajaj Pulsar 150 bags the second spot. The Pulsar 150 has been in the market for over a decade and still remains a hot favourite among Indians. In fact, the top two 150cc bikes are from Indian manufacturers which denotes Indians prefer India engineered products.

The CB Unicorn 150 takes the third spot selling 21,938 units in May 2017. Again a bike that has been in the Indian market for over a decade and it’s the refinement of the 150cc engine, seating comfort and fuel-efficiency in the Honda CB Unicorn that has made it sustain in the Indian market for so long.

Yamaha’s best selling motorcycle, the FZ bags the fourth position by selling 16,881 units in May 2017 followed by the Honda CB Hornet 160R that sold 14,618 units. Honda is said to be working on a faired CB Hornet 160R that will rival the Suzuki Gixxer SF and when that happens, the CB Hornet 160R’s sales are bound to increase.

Bajaj’s V15 takes the sixth spot selling 11,315 units in May 2017 followed by Hero’s Achiever that surprisingly sold 7089 units. The Hero Achiever is an entry-level 150cc bike that comes priced slightly higher than an average 125cc motorcycle. Suzuki’s best selling bike in India, the Gixxer bags eighth position by selling 5248 units in May 2017.

The Bajaj Avenger 150 sits on ninth position selling 4528 units followed by the Yamaha SZ on tenth position selling 3254 units. Next comes yet another Yamaha, the R15. The R15 sold 3220 units in May 2017.

The last spots, twelfth and thirteenth are taken by the Honda CB Unicorn 160 and Hero Xtreme respectively. While the CB Unicorn 160 sold 3136 units in May 2017, Hero managed to sell just 1853 units of the Xtreme. The launch of the Pulsar NS 160 is sure to change the 150cc sales table next month.
