The 150cc bike sales chart in December 2020 does not bring up any surprises, for almost all models that featured in the list last time around have made it to the top 10.
TVS Apache series leads with 26,535 unit sales, but because it includes higher capacity models as well, it is the Pulsar 150, close to 20,000 units of which were retailed, that looks to be the actual leader of the pack.
However, the popular Bajaj model did lose 25 percent of its sales year-over-year (YoY), for in December 2019, 26,778 units of the bike were sold by the brand.
Yamaha’s FZ continued with its solid run this time around as well, as over 14,000 units of the motorcycle were sold in December, with a strong 46 percent YoY growth.
Similarly, the R15 managed to once again cross the 5000-unit mark with 5471 examples of the bike sold in December 2020 and its naked derivative, the MT-15 crossed the 4000-unit mark (4376 units) again.
Up next comes the Xtreme, 3265 units of which Hero managed to sell. But, do note that this figure includes the 200S’ figure as well. Then comes the Honda Hornet 2.0 with 2457 unit sales, followed by the Suzuki Gixxer with 1651 units and Bajaj Avenger 160 (1333 units).
Both the Yamaha MT-15 and Hero Xtreme managed to achieve massive YoY sales growth this time around, while models like the Gixxer, Apache series, FZ and R15 also recorded solid growth percentage.
Overall sales of the models in the 150cc bike sale December 2020 list stood at 91,204 units, which is a 39 percent growth over the same period last year.
