October 2024 car sales witnessed mild changes in top 25, Maruti Ertiga leads!
October 2024 top 25 car sales list revealed, Maruti Ertiga tops the chart. There are 10 Maruti cars in this list, followed by 5 cars from Mahindra, 4 cars from Hyundai, 3 from Kia, 2 cars from Tata and one from Toyota.
The Indian automotive market has seen significant shifts in consumer preferences, with Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga emerging as the country’s best-selling car for the second consecutive month. Dispatches for the seven-seater MUV reached an impressive 18,785 units in October, putting it significantly ahead of its smaller sibling, the Swift, which traditionally enjoys high volumes.
The growing appeal of seven-seater vehicles is a notable trend this year, as more buyers look for value-packed options catering to family and utility needs. Models like the Mahindra Scorpio, XUV700, Toyota Innova and Kia Carens have witnessed strong demand, reflecting this shift. Mahindra’s XUV700 achieved a significant milestone, surpassing the 10,000-unit mark for the first time in October.
Hyundai’s Creta retained its position as India’s best-selling SUV in October, ranking third overall in car sales. With robust sales that outpaced rivals in the midsize SUV segment, such as Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara and Kia Seltos, the Creta also managed to outsell smaller Sub-4m SUVs, demonstrating its enduring appeal among Indian consumers.
Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza closely followed the Creta in sales volume, securing the fourth spot overall with 16,565 units sold. Its consistent performance in the compact SUV segment underscores its popularity.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors made a strong impression in October, with its Punch securing the seventh spot among India’s top-selling cars. The Nexon also re-entered the Top 10 list, benefiting from the introduction of a CNG variant featuring premium options like a panoramic sunroof. This diversification in offerings has bolstered the Nexon’s appeal in a highly competitive market.
The resurgence of seven-seater vehicles and consistent performance of popular SUV models highlight a shift in buyer priorities toward larger, feature-rich options. Automakers continue to respond to this demand by enhancing the value proposition of their models through price adjustments, new variants, and added features.
As competition intensifies across segments, it will be interesting to see how brands innovate to cater to the evolving needs of Indian consumers in the months ahead.
