November 2024 car sales witnessed some changes in top 25, Maruti Baleno leads
November 2024 top 25 car sales list revealed, Maruti Baleno tops the chart. There are 10 Maruti cars in this list, followed by 5 cars from Mahindra, 4 cars from Hyundai, 3 from Kia, 2 cars from Tata and one from Toyota.
In a significant achievement, Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno emerged as India’s best-selling car in November 2024, with 16,293 units dispatched. The premium hatchback dethroned Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga, which held the top spot for the past two months.
Top 5 Models: Close Competition
The Top 5 models in November 2024 all registered dispatches above the 15,000-unit mark, showcasing a highly competitive market. Hyundai’s Creta continued to dominate the compact SUV segment, with 15,452 units dispatched, securing the second spot. Tata Motors saw two of its popular models, the Punch and Nexon, making a strong comeback in the Top 5. The Punch claimed the third spot, followed by the Nexon in fourth. Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga rounded out the Top 5, reflecting its sustained demand despite being overtaken by the Baleno.
Utility Vehicles Lead the Pack
India’s automotive market continues to shift toward utility vehicles, with 7 out of the Top 10 models in November 2024 being SUVs or crossovers. This trend highlights the growing consumer preference for vehicles offering practicality, high ground clearance and modern features.
Hatchbacks Hold Ground
Among hatchbacks, only three models made it to the Top 10 list, all from Maruti Suzuki’s lineup. The Baleno’s chart-topping performance was complemented by consistent demand for its stablemates, reinforcing Maruti Suzuki’s dominance in this segment.
Mahindra Gains Momentum
Mahindra’s SUVs have gained traction, with the Scorpio consistently featuring in the Top 10. The Scorpio’s strong performance has been further bolstered by the success of the Scorpio-N variant. Additionally, the recent launch of the Thar Roxx has significantly increased volumes for the Thar portfolio. The combined sales of the Thar 3-door and 5-door variants have outpaced competitors like the Kia Seltos, Mahindra Bolero and the Tata 3XO.
The November 2024 sales figures reveal a dynamic and evolving Indian automotive market, with utility vehicles continuing to dominate consumer preferences. While hatchbacks like the Baleno maintain their appeal, the surge in demand for SUVs underscores the changing priorities of Indian car buyers. It will be interesting to see how this trend evolves in the coming months, especially with new model launches on the horizon.
