The top 25 selling cars list for the month of June 2018 sees the Elite i20 become Hyundai’s best seller, Creta isn’t far behind.
June 2018 has been a not so good month for the auto industry in India and a look at the above table will give the readers a glimpse of it. Over 17 cars in the top selling list have posted negative growth in terms of sales. Maruti’s Dzire retains the top spot selling 24,465 units while the recently launched Swift holds the second spot. The Maruti Alto and Baleno sell 18,070 and 17,850 units respectively thereby occupying the third and fourth positions.
The Maruti Wagon R manages to find 11,311 homes in June while the Hyundai Elite i20 and Creta stand at the sixth and seventh spots respectively. The premium hatchback sold 11,262 units whereas the compact SUV registered sales of 11,111 units in June. Maruti’s Vitara Brezza slips two positions and currently occupies the eighth spot selling 10,713 units while Hyundai’s Grand i10 slips one position registering sales of 10,343 units.
Honda’s Amaze has finally managed to breach into the top 10 clocking sales of 9103 units. The diesel-CVT engine-gearbox combination seems to be doing the trick here. Within just a few months of launch, the second generation Amaze has become Honda’s best seller. Tata Tiago sells 8327 units and currently occupies the eleventh position as compared to the fifteenth position in the previous (May) month. Maruti’s Omni and Celerio register sales of 6573 and 6570 units respectively in June 2018.
One interesting thing about the June sales is that there is only one Mahindra and one Toyota car in the top selling list. The Japanese automaker’s Innova Crysta manages to find 6426 homes whereas the Mahindra Bolero clocks sales of 6229 units. Maruti’s Eeco and Renault Kwid register sales of 5612 and 4939 units respectively while the Ignis clocks 4514 units and the Ertiga manages to sell 4311 units in June 2018. Hyundai’s Eon and Xcent occupy the twentieth and twenty-first spots selling 4270 and 4199 units respectively. Tata Nexon finally overtakes the Ford EcoSport in terms of sales to become the second best-selling sub-compact in India.
