Almost a dozen 2-wheelers out of these 25 see a decline in sales compared to the previous year.
Currently the Indian automobile industry is facing tough times as private vehicle sales have slumped to decade low. Be it 4-wheelers or 2-wheelers, the sales are declining at a huge rate compared to the past few years. Same is the case with May 2019 2-wheeler sales.
Almost half of the top 25 selling 2-wheelers have faced negative growth compared to the previous year. The top 4 spots are exactly in the same order compared to May 2018 Sales. The Hero Splendor leads the chart in May 2019 with 2,67,450 units while Honda Activa comes second with 2,18,734 units followed by Hero HF Deluxe with 1,83,255 units.
While the Splendor and Activa have seen a decline in sales compared to the previous year, the HF Deluxe has seen almost no changes in sales. The top gainer in this list is the Bajaj Platina with 97% YoY growth. The new H Gear version might boost the sales in the coming months.
The worst hit 2-wheeler in the list is the Hero Maestro scooter with 43% slump in sales compared to the previous year. The Bajaj CT 100 has also seen a significant fall in sales with 40% negative YoY growth. Royal Enfield has managed to fit two bikes in the list with Classic 350 selling 35,998 units and Bullet 350 Twinspark selling 11,995 units.
