Hero MotoCorp's products once again occupy the top 2 positions of the sales chart, followed by the ever popular Honda Activa.
December 2020 2-wheeler sales shows how drastically things change as many models have posted vastly reduced sales figures in the last month of the previous calendar year.
Hero’s Splendor is back on top of the list with over 1.63 lakh unit sales, which was just a smidgen better than what it achieved during the same period a year before.
In second place comes the Hero HF Deluxe with 1.41 lakh units to its name, followed by the Honda Activa with 1.34 lakh unit sales.
TVS retailed close to 60,000 units of the XL 100 moped that occupies fourth place in the December 2020 2-wheeler sales chart, while Honda sold 56,003 units of the Shine.
It looks like the Pulsar 125 from Bajaj has struck a chord with the buying public, for its sales is booming of late and this past month, 42,686 units of the motorcycle got sold, which is a whopping 183 percent year-over-year (YoY) growth.
Up next is the Suzuki Access with 40,154 unit sales, followed very closely by the Royal Enfield Classic 350, with 39,321 units, with a healthy 35 percent YoY growth.
The TVS Jupiter is another scooter that did well with 38,435 units sold this past month and rounding up the top 10 is the Hero Passion, 36,624 units of which were retailed in December.
In the next 15 positions, models like the TVS Apache series (26,535 units), Hero Pleasure (19,090 units), Yamaha FZ (14,161 units), Yamaha Ray (8690 units) and the Bajaj Pulsar 180 and 200 NS duo (8279 units), all did well to post solid YoY growth figures.
None of the top 10 2-wheelers in the list posted degrowth, which is commendable. However, there were some, like the Bajaj Pulsar 150 (19,958 units), Hero Glamour (19,238 units), among others, that posted negative sales growth in the December 2020 2-wheeler sales list.
While there is has been a shakeup this time around, expect sales to regularise in the coming months and hopefully, the vehicles in the list will post consistent sales figures from now on.
