While domestic market slumped, 2-wheeler exports grew by 7.3 percent.
FY20 has seen a slowdown in the domestic market sales of 2-wheelers. However, the exports of 2-wheelers have increased by 7.3 percent. A total of 35,20,376 units were exported in FY20.
Africa and Latin America has helped in boosting the exports from India. Bajaj Auto comes out as the top exporter of 2-wheelers with 18,69,220 motorcycles exported in FY20.
Out of these 25 two-wheelers only 4 are scooters while the rest are motorcycles. Bajaj Boxer is the highest exported motorcycle leading with a huge margin. The Indian automaker exported 10,93,451 units of the bike with 20 percent growth.
TVS Star City takes the second spot with less than half the sales of Bajaj Boxer. The Star City saw 4,18,602 unit exports with 26 percent growth in numbers.
Bajaj Pulsar takes the third spot with 2,75,745 units exported in FY20 with 5 percent growth. Highest growth is seen by Yamaha Saluto with 1886 percent increase in exports to 31,322 units.
With the supply chain and production badly affected during the ongoing lockdown. The export numbers will see a sharp fall this financial year.
