The top 20 selling cars in October 2016 show some interesting new changes compared to the same month last year, Honda City overtakes Maruti Ciaz.
Whenever we talk about car sales in India, the first brand that strikes our mind is Maruti Suzuki. The largest carmaker in India contributes to more than 50 percent of the top 20 car sales chart. Just like September 2016, Maruti Suzuki has 11 cars in the list in the month of October.
The top 4 spots are held by Maruti but compared to the previous month the 3rd and 4th position have been swapped by Wagon R overtaking the Swift in October. The Hyundai Grand i10 and Elite i20 see a good rise in sales and hence are stacked together in the 5th and 6th position, pushing the Baleno down to 7th.
It is interesting to see Tata Motors jumping two positions up with the hot selling Tiago climbing from September’s 19th position to October’s 17th position. What’s more eye opening is that the Honda City has overtaken Maruti Ciaz in October. This might be possible because of the rising demand of petrol cars.
Now compared to the same month last year, the Maruti Baleno has seen 153 percent of growth, the Kwid has seen 89 percent of growth while the Celerio saw 44 percent growth. On the flip side, the Maruti DZire experienced the biggest negative growth of 28 percent followed by Alto seeing 18 percent and then Swift with 17 percent.
