While some vehicles have remained consistent with their sales, there are certain cars whose sales have taken quite a hit.
Every month we see Maruti Suzuki lapping up sales in huge numbers and most of the company’s vehicles get featured in the top-sellers list. This month is no different. While the Alto continues a winning streak with sales of more than 20,000 units, what is shocking is the fact that sales of the DZire have dropped down by a very considerable margin. The DZire also always used to average more than 20,000 units but this time figures have dropped to 15,000-odd units.
The Wagon R is relatively consistent in sales and it clocks good numbers every month. Hyundai seems to be having a good time since the sales of the Grand i10 have crossed 12,000 units which is pretty good since the Korean has even overtaken the Swift by a margin. Sales of the Elite i20 have also increased by a small margin. The Baleno is the newest kid on the block and since it is priced very close to the Swift, we were expecting it to sell in good numbers and the premium hatchback doesn’t disappoint.
The Hyundai Eon and Maruti Celerio have been consistent performers while the Omni which is a seriously outdated product is still selling like hot cakes. Similar is the case with the Eeco too which is mostly preferred as a commercial vehicle. The Honda City is still leading the C-segment just like always while the Maruti Ciaz is slightly behind. The Hyundai Creta is leading the pack of compact SUVs and the EcoSport and Duster come nowhere close in sales.
Maruti gave a minor update to the Ertiga recently and that has boosted the sales of the MPV by a small margin. The old and reliable Mahindra Bolero is also selling pretty well with more than 5000 units. The entry-level hatchback segment recently saw the new Renault Kwid and it has been a pretty successful model even though its rival, the Alto is far ahead in sales. Sales of the Honda Amaze seem to have taken quite a dip since the compact sedan was clocking more than 6000-odd units just a couple of months back.
