Maruti Suzuki continues to lead on the sales chart in June 2015 with the recent updates to the Swift DZire help it overtake the top selling Alto.
Every month when we look at the monthly sales figures, we don’t get surprised to see Maruti Suzuki leading the pack by having at least five positions in the top 10 list. This month is no different. The Alto which has been the best-seller for a long time gets defeated by its own elder sibling, the DZire which has moved up from second position to first. The Alto slips down to the second position with sales a shade above the 21,000 mark, as usual. The Swift continues to remain at the third position while the fourth place is dominated by another fuel efficient Maruti, the Wagon R.
The Hyundai Grand i10 and Elite i20 have their positions unchanged and they continue to rest at the fifth and sixth spot respectively. The City was at the seventh position in May but this time the Celerio has overtaken it and grabbed its position. With this, the Honda moves down to the eighth position. Celerio sales have increased from 6653 units to 8078 units, thanks to the launch of the diesel version. In the coming few months, we only expect the Celerio to climb up the sales charts since it has become a buyer’s favourite in its segment.
In May 2015, the Hyundai Eon and Xcent were at ninth and tenth positions respectively but this time the Eon has moved down to the tenth place, with its sales falling slightly. The ninth position is now occupied by the Honda Amaze with very good sales of 6834 units last month. The Xcent is nowhere to be found on the top 10 list this time, but we feel that it’ll make a comeback next month again. The Amaze has inconsistent sales numbers every month and we don’t think it’ll survive at the ninth position for much long.
