The list of the top 10 selling cars remains mostly unchanged every month but there are a few contenders who keep leaving and entering the list every now and then.
The Indian four-wheeler market is a highly competitive one. There are just so many vehicles in each segment and each price point that fierce competition is bound to occur. The list of the top 10 selling cars has the usual suspects every month in the top 5 positions but what is more interesting is the list of the other 5 contenders found at the bottom of the list. This is where things get interesting. Let us analyse the top selling cars of September 2015.
The Maruti Alto dominates the list and continues to be the best selling car in the country, closely followed by its elder sister, the Swift DZire. The third and fourth positions are also held by Maruti vehicles, i.e. the Swift and Wagon R respectively. Most of the population in the country prefers buying Maruti vehicles because of the proven reliability and trust factor and the fact that the company has service locations in every nook and corner of the country.
In August, the fifth position was held by the Hyundai Elite i20 while the Grand i10 stood at the sixth position and this time also both the hatchbacks from the Korean stable have maintained their respective positions. The seventh position is held by the Maruti Celerio consistently while the company seems to be slightly concerned over the low sales of the diesel variants of the hatchback.
The eighth position is held by the Hyundai Creta just like the previous month with sales of over 7000-odd units. The Amaze, with its very inconsistent sales, keeps entering and leaving the top 10 list every alternate month. The Amaze competes with the Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and Ford Figo Aspire and all of them are better packages and also cheaper than the Amaze and yet the Honda manages to sell much higher than them which is astonishing. The ninth and tenth position are again lapped by Honda, with the Amaze and the City respectively while the Jazz is no longer in the list.
