The top 10 selling bikes list for the month of August sees over 3.35 lakh Honda Activas being sold.
While July is a dry month for the entire automobile industry, starting August, the Indian calendar sees a whole lot of festivities coming and this is when most automakers plan for new launches or bring updated versions of their vehicles, so as to cash in on the festive season.
One look at the top 10 selling bikes list above and the point made is evident. Not a single player in the list has registered a negative growth rate which is a good sign. Leading the chart is the ‘scooter raj’, Honda Activa selling a whopping 3,35,595 units, followed by the Hero Splendor which sold 2,42,431 units in the month of August 2017.
Holding on to its third spot, the Hero HF Deluxe registered sales of 1,61,177 units while the Honda CB Shine and Hero Passion sold 94,748 and 93,003 units respectively and also managed to hold on to their fourth and fifth position respectively. The 125cc Honda CB Shine has once again outsold the 100cc Hero Passion.
The TVS XL Super jumps from the eighth to the sixth spot in the month of August 2017 by selling 81,919 units and following it is the TVS Jupiter that held on to its seventh position by selling 81,277 units. The Hero Glamour sold 80,106 units in August but fell two spots down.
Standing in the ninth and tenth spots respectively are the Bajaj Pulsar series and CT 100. The Pulsar series sold 58,795 units while the CT 100 sold 57,561 units in August 2017. Bajaj had launched the CT 100 with a bigger 102cc engine last month and probably this has led to the increase in sales of the CT 100.
