The Indian two-wheeler market has a lot of options available across varied segments, but as we know, the Indian customer is very budget-oriented and cares a lot about fuel efficiency. Hence, we compiled a list of the top 10 fuel efficient bikes in India.
Hero Splendor iSmart
The Hero Splendor is the highest selling bike in the country and is a favourite with the masses. Across decades, the bike has continued its winning streak in the market. The iSmart model comes with an idle Start-Stop system which results in a mind-boggling fuel efficiency figure of 100 km/l.
Bajaj CT 100
The Bajaj CT 100 was an extremely popular bike in its hay days and then the company reintroduced the motorcycle again last year. It is positioned below the Platina but gets lesser torque and misses out on DTS-i technology. The bike will make your jaws drop with a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 99.1 km/l.
Bajaj Platina ES
The Bajaj Platina ES is slotted above the CT 100 and comes with similar mechanicals. It also gets DTS-i technology. The Platina got a minor update last year and Bajaj added an electric start feature too. The Platina has a splendid fuel efficiency figure of 96.9 km/l.
TVS Sport
The Sport is TVS’ offering in the entry-level commuter segment and the company says that it is the most appealing bike in its segment. The bike is priced at a very affordable price point and gives out a claimed fuel efficiency of 95 km/l.
Hero Splendor
This bike produces slightly lesser fuel efficiency than the iSmart variant but it is still the model that brings in a lot of volumes for the company. A bike that is on sale since generations, it goes up to 93.2 kms on a litre of fuel.
Hero HF
The HF range of bikes from Hero MotoCorp is largely based on the Splendor and comes with very similar mechanicals. Hero is targeting the HF series as slightly less pricier than the Splendor due to the deletion of certain features. The Hero HF produces a fuel efficiency figure of 88.5 km/l.
Mahindra Centuro
The Centuro is a unique bike in the commuter segment since it comes with features like flip key, find-me lamps, follow-me-home lamps and a digital instrument cluster. The bike may not be selling in as high numbers as its rivals from Hero, but it does churn out very good fuel efficiency at 85.2 km/l.
Yamaha Saluto RX
The newest kid on the block is Yamaha’s entrant to the commuter segment. The Saluto RX is positioned as a replacement for the Crux and it has a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 82 km/l. The Saluto is also the only bike in this list that complies with BS IV norms.
TVS Victor
The Victor was first launched more than a decade back but TVS recently relaunched the bike in its new avatar. The new bike has been developed completely from scratch and we dare say it even looks much better than most commuters available on sale in India. The new TVS Victor delivers fuel efficiency of 76 km/l.
Suzuki Hayate EP
The Hayate didn’t taste much success but then Suzuki revamped the bike and gave it quite a few major updates. The motorbike gets Suzuki’s Eco Performance tech and also gets stuff like a maintenance free battery. Talking about fuel efficiency, the motorcycle churns out 76 km/l.
