The 2016 Auto Expo witnessed a lot of action and hundreds of new as well as old cars were displayed. While some are existing models, there are some which are going to hit the market in the future. We take a look at the top 10 cars at the 2016 Auto Expo.
10) Toyota Innova
Indians have been waiting with bated breath for the new Innova and Toyota finally made us all happy by showcasing the MPV. It looks and feels very premium and sophisticated now and even though it will be much more pricier than the present model, we expect it to sell in really high numbers.
9) Fiat Urban Cross
The Avventura is a beautiful looking crossover but Fiat made it even better with the Urban Cross that got a lot of cosmetic enhancements including new alloy wheels, dual tone paint, new grille and stylish interiors with new seat covers. The Fiat Urban Cross will soon be launched but till it goes on sale, Fiat fans are sure going awestruck looking at the car.
8) Hyundai HND14 Carlino
The Hyundai Carlino is going to be slotted below the Creta and above the i20 Active and it will be a sub 4-metre compact SUV, thus competing with the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the upcoming Maruti Vitara Brezza. The Carlino is still a concept and there is still some time before it makes it to production, which is expected to happen only in 2017-18. It will come with the same engines as the Hyundai Elite i20.
7) Ford Mustang
Ford unveiled the 2016 Mustang in India just before the Auto Expo but the cult muscle car was displayed at the show too. The Mustang is known for its retro nature, aggressive looks and the massive power that it produces. The Mustang that will be launched in India will come powered by a fire breathing 5.0-litre petrol engine.
6) Audi R8
The all-new Audi R8 combines dapper looks with appealing interiors and the sports car boasts of immense appeal. The highlight of the vehicle is the huge 5.2-litre V10 petrol engine that belts out 532 HP of power and 539 Nm of torque. The alloy wheels have a slick design but the Matrix LED lights are the true attention-grabbers. The R8 has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 2.47 crores (ex-showroom).
5) Datsun GO-Cross
The Datsun GO might be a bland vehicle but the GO-Cross is something that is totally opposite. It looks good with all its body-cladding, attractive gold colour and those snazzy alloy wheels. The GO-Cross is likely to draw power from the same 1.2-litre petrol engine as the GO and whenever it gets launched in the market, Nissan will price it attractively.
4) Mahindra XUV Aero
The Mahindra XUV500 is already a hit with the masses but the automaker has won everyone’s hearts with the XUV Aero concept which is out of this world. It gets jaw-dropping exteriors while the insides look more futuristic too. The overall stance of the SUV gets more sportier and we think it’ll be a massive hit if it makes it to the assembly line.
3) Renault Kwid Race R
Who said small hatchbacks have to be boring? Renault doesn’t agree because the automaker displayed the Kwid Race R at the Auto Expo and it looks absolutely smashing with a lot of enhancements to the cosmetics and some sexy design elements too. The body kit lends a lot of character to the car while the interiors also come finished in some really exotic materials. The only downside about this vehicle is the fact that it won’t make it to production.
2) Tata Nexon
Kudos to Tata Motors for coming up with such an exciting design on the production version of the Nexon. It looks very good and is much different than other Tata products. The exteriors are nicely finished and the interiors also boast of good quality. The Nexon will be offered with a choice of two engines – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The vehicle will also get a lot of features.
1) Mercedes G500 4×4
The Mercedes G500 4×4 Squared is humongous in size and it boasts of a very imposing stance, something that could scare off any other car on the road. The G500 is powered by a massive 4.0-litre V8 engine that churns out 422 HP of power and 610 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an automatic transmission. The vehicle can be driven through 39-inches of water.
