The top 10 car exports list in FY 2017-18 sees the Ford EcoSport retaining its top position.

Overall passenger car exports for the FY 2017-18 witnessed a positive growth as compared to the previous year. Save for the Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Baleno, all other players in the top 10 car exports list have posted a positive growth rate.

Ford EcoSport retains its first spot and remains the most exported car from India. This time, the compact SUV sold 90,599 units as opposed to 79,539 units in FY 2016-17. Standing second is the Chevrolet Beat which is no longer sold in India courtesy GM’s exit from our market. 83,140 units of the hatchback (left-hand drive) were exported from GM’s Talegaon facility in Pune to markets like Chile, Central America, Peru and Argentina.

Volkswagen Vento managed to grow at 8% by selling 77,005 units while the Ford Figo sold 61,241 units in the last fiscal. The hatchback posted the second highest growth rate of 19% in the list. Hyundai’s Creta moved from the eighth to the fifth position and its exports stood at 50,820 units while the company’s hatchback Grand i10 moved up to the sixth spot despite exports witnessing a fall from 48,839 units in FY 2016-17 to 44,907 units in FY 2017-18.

Maruti’s Baleno too recorded a slight downfall in exports. The premium hatchback’s exports stood at 41,433 units during FY 2018 as opposed to 49,248 units in the previous fiscal. Standing at the eighth spot is the Nissan Sunny whose exports were 34,075 units while the Ford Aspire and the Maruti Ignis sold 29,308 and 22,969 units in FY 2017-18.
