The new Tesla Roadster has been unveiled and it is quicker than many hypercars!
Tesla has revealed the Roadster sports car and man this car is bound to get your hearts racing. Along with the Roadster, the electric-only car company has also revealed an all-electric 18-wheeler semi truck. Not only does the Roadster look gorgeous, it’s also fast. Tesla claims that the car will do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in just 1.9 seconds! That’s faster than a Formula 1 car. The quarter-mile comes up in just 8.9 seconds.
Tesla claims a top speed of 400 km/hr and this puts the Roadster in the Bugatti Chiron and Koeniggsegg Agera’s territory. Tesla should be terming this as a ‘Hyper Car’ rather than a ‘Sports Car’. Unlike the other two cars named above, the Roadster will not be an impractical 2-seater. The car can transport four comfortably (in case the rear passengers are relatively a bit smaller). The Roadster is powered by a 200 KwH battery pack. The vehicle has three motors (one at the front and two at the rear) and also gets all-wheel-drive and torque steering.
On one full charge, the car gets a range of over 990 kms (620 miles)! That’s equal to the distance between Bengaluru to Mumbai. The convertible is expected to go on sale in 2020 but the fact that Tesla has not been able to keep its promises before cannot be ruled out. Whatever be it, there’s no denying that the Roadster looks like a well-built package. Prices start at $2,00,000 (approximately Rs. 1.3 crores) and $2,50,000 (approximately Rs. 1.62 crores) for the Founder’s Series models. The first 1000 Roadsters sold will be the Founder’s Series models.
