Tata trademarks 4 new terms and, going by current developments, they could be the manufacturer’s EV names
Tata Motors has filed 4 new trademarks hinting that there could be new models coming soon and, going by Tata’s recent activities, they could, most probably, be the manufacturer’s upcoming EV names.
In the last couple of months, Tata Motors is often in the news for something or the other. With experience gained in the last 2 years from its successful Nexon EV stint, the home-grown manufacturer is all set to take the first mover advantage in EV space.
The brand has a successful Ziptron EV platform now and wants to make full use of it.
Tata started its buzz last month with the unveil of its Curvv EV concept followed by promising to retain all ex-Ford employees at its newly acquired Sanand plant.
Developments continued with Tiago reaching 4 lakh production milestone and then came the news about Altroz EV and Nexon long-range EV on test.
Even before gauging these updates, Tata dropped a bomb with its new Avinya concept and launch of the 154 km-range Ace EV. Now, the Indian manufacturer is gearing up to launch its much-awaited Nexon EV Max which will reportedly get over 300 km real-world range.
While Curvv is expected to get to production by 2024, Avinya will follow suit by 2025. It was amid these many developments, Tata has silently trademarked 4 names – Xiomara, Styzor, Bovita, and Auroar.
The brand is also reportedly working on its upcoming EV named Sliq although not many details are currently known.
The current crop of Tata’s EVs follow the brand’s Gen 1 platform, while the Curvv slated for 2024 will get Tata’s Gen 2 architecture.
But, the current top-of-the-line Avinya will sport Tata’s Gen 3 architecture. The 4 upcoming cars are also likely to get the best Gen 3 architecture.
Tata’s current Ziptron powertrain that’s featured in the Nexon currently offers a range somewhere between 150 to 250 km. It’s expected to get a big boost with the Nexon EV Max. But, by the time Avinya goes to production, its rear-world range could be as high as 500 km.
Tata is currently selling over 5,000 to 6,000 units of its Nexon and Tigor EVs every month which is one of the highest numbers in the EV space.
