Tata Tiago iCNG AMT

Tata Tigor CNG AMT along with Tiago CNG AMT bookings open for Rs. 21,000/-

Tata Motors open bookings for India’s first CNG AMT cars – Tata Tigor and Tiago CNG AMT. The new variants can be booked across all authorised Tata Motors dealerships or on their official website with a token amount of Rs. 21,000/-.

The Tiago iCNG AMT will be available in three variants – XTA CNG, XZA+ CNG and XZA NRG while the Tigor iCNG AMT will be available in 2 variants – XZA CNG and XZA+ CNG. Tata Motors has also introduced new colours – Tornado Blue in the Tiago, Grassland Beige in Tiago NRG and Meteor Bronze in the Tigor.

Under the hood, both the Tata Tiago CNG automatic and Tigor CNG automatic are likely to retain the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine found in their manual counterparts. This engine configuration makes 73.4 PS at 6000 RPM and 95 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM in the CNG mode. In petrol mode it offers 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque.

The new variants will get the same recently introduced twin-cylinder CNG tanks that are placed below the luggage areas to optimise boot space. Single ECU ensures jerk free shifting between petrol and CNG modes. Both cars start directly in the CNG mode so you do not have to switch to CNG mode every time you start the car, which also saves fuel.

There is a micro switch that turns off the ignition as soon as the fuel lid is opened and keeps it off until the lid is securely closed. The iCNG technology immediately cuts off CNG supply to the engine in case of a thermal incident and releases gas from the cylinder directly into the atmosphere through a special nozzle as a measure of safety.

The twin CNG cylinders located below the luggage area offer the safest solution, as the valves and pipes are protected under the load floor, minimising the risk of potential damage. The iCNG technology immediately detects a gas leak and switches from CNG to petrol mode.

The Indian carmaker hasn’t revealed the tech specs of the new variants yet. However, the Tata Tiago CNG automatic and Tigor CNG automatic are likely to retain the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine found in their manual counterparts. It produces 73.4 PS at 6000 RPM and 95 Nm of torque at 3500 RPM in the CNG mode. In petrol mode it offers 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque.
