The Tata Tiago EV concept car has been unveiled at the LCV 2017 in Millbrook, UK.
Tata has unveiled a fully electric concept of its Tiago hatchback at the LCV 2017, an exhibition for low carbon emission vehicles in Millbrook, UK. The Tiago EV has been engineered by UK-based Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC).
The Tata Tiago EV uses a 114 HP (85 kW) liquid-cooled electric drive motor that develops 200 Nm of torque and has a range of 100 kms. Tipping the scale at 1040 kgs (kerb), the hatchback is around 20 kgs lighter than the heaviest variant of the Tiago that is sold in India. Tata claims a top speed of 135 km/hr for this electric hatchback and 0-100 km/hr comes in under 11 seconds.
The Tiago EV is a running concept and the company is offering people at the exhibition a chance to drive the car too. The Tiago EV will be the first electric vehicle from Tata to go on sale. Tata chose to develop an electric version of the Tiago as the hatchback’s relatively low-cost platform will help to keep the costs in check.
The Tiago EV is expected to make it to India soon and a debut at the 2018 Auto Expo is likely to happen.
