Tata Motors has teased a new special edition variant of the 2021 Tiago hatchback on social media, today.
With the title “Adventures filled with unlimited fun” the video signifies that the new edition is likely to be a sporty variant of the Tiago, which already saw a sporty variant made out of it in the form of the JTP.
Set to be revealed tomorrow (30th January 2021) the model in the teaser does not look any different to the current car.
Thus, the possibility of it being the NRG variant can be ruled out, since that model comes with body cladding throughout. However, the car does look to be sporting a new set of alloy wheels.
It could be the return of a variant similar to the JTP, which came with slightly different styling and had some bespoke parts too. It had wider tyres and lower ground clearance all to aid its sporty characteristic.
Powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor good for 114 PS and 150 Nm, the model was a genuine warm hatchback that was affordable and could crack the 0-100 km/hr sprint under 10 seconds.
Having launched the Altroz iTurbo, it would not be surprising if Tata reintroduced a sporty variant of the Tiago. Since its tie-up with Jayem Automotives has ended, Tata will have to rename the sporty variant, if it does launch it.
However, there is also a possibility that the 2021 Tata Tiago special edition would not be any different to the current model, sporting only some new graphics. Well, at least we do not have to wait for long to know completely about the new variant.
