Tata Motors will be launching a facelift of the Safari Storme soon in India. The car has been spotted testing recently but without any sort of camouflage.
Tata Motors released the original Safari almost 17 years ago which gained a huge fan following in the country. They updated the SUV a few times over the years and the most major update was the launch of the Safari Storme. The Safari Storme received some major changes in a hope to increase the appeal as well as sales. But, the Safari Storme could never manage to grab as many eyeballs as the original Safari which made Tata sell the older Safari alongside the Safari Storme. However, a certain set of people preferred the Storme’s better interiors and other aspects.
In order to give a boost to Safari Storme’s sales until the completely new one arrives, Tata is planning to launch a facelift of the SUV in the coming months. A test mule has been recently spotted sans camouflage. Although the changes aren’t major, they will make the SUV look fresher. Changes on the outside include a new grille, new foglamp housing and new bumpers. It’s the interiors which receive majority of the changes. The test mule sported all-black interiors and the centre console was fully taped indicating some changes are expected there too. The SUV receives a steering wheel similar to the Zest.
However, the most interesting update that the Safari Storme facelift might get is the 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine from the Aria which produces 150 PS of power (10 PS more than current engine). This would add some extra punch which would be appreciated by owners. In order to clear inventory of the current Safari Storme, Tata Motors is offering benefits up to Rs. 1 lakh which makes it a good time to grab one. The Indian carmaker will soon be starting the sales and service staff training for the Safari Storme facelift which means that the launch is not too far away.
