Tata could launch the facelifted versions of the Harrier and Safari with petrol variants to take on Mahindra’s mStallion engines
Tata Motors has put up a new teaser on its social media handles hinting a launch soon and it might very well be the facelifted Harrier and Safari with a new petrol heart. The company has given the hashtag SUV which further augments our claim.
The teaser has a man wearing his suit with a lot of professionalism invoking a sense of sophisticated demeanour. So, the facelifted models are expected to have a good dose of chrome for a professional look.
Just a few days back, a test mule of the upcoming Tata Safari facelift was spied testing for the first time. While the car was heavily camouflaged, we made out some updates on the outside.
At the front, the first thing that was noticeable was the updated grille. It had unique silver finished holes against the quilted pattern of the outgoing model. The eyebrow DRLs merged into the grille quite sharply. The lights were sleeker too.
The headlamp housings were more rounded and fused with the bumper well. The fog lamps and the 2-piece bottom grille, however, looked the same as before. The roof rails were camouflaged and might be a adorned with a new shade.
At the rear, the brushed silver finish on the bumper was missing on the test mule. Maybe, it will be added during production. Rest all aspects looked the same as before though fully hidden. The protruding LED tail lamps had a polarising look from certain angles.
The facelifted Tata Safari and Harrier will get many creature comfort features. Some of them could be the much-needed ADAS, 360 degree camera, ventilated seats, and bigger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Currently, the SUVs are powered by the lone Stellantis-sourced 2-litre Kryotec diesel engine that produces 167.7 HP and 350 Nm peak. They can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
