The upcoming Tata Q501 SUV has been spotted again with a Land Rover body.
Tata’s upcoming premium SUV has been spotted testing in Pune yet again. The Q501 will be the flagship SUV from the automaker once launched and will take on the likes of the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner. MotorBeam reader Shaan S G spotted the Q501 undergoing test rounds.
The spotted test mules look like a Land Rover Discovery Sport, however, only on close observation does it come to light that this isn’t a Land Rover SUV. Unlike the last time it was spotted, this time the test mule featured alloy wheels in place of steel wheels, as seen on the basic variants of the Safari Storme or Hexa.
The Q501 will be the first Tata product to share its platform, suspension and many other underlying structural components with Land Rover. However, Tata says the Q501 will not look like the Land Rover Discovery Sport. Tata’s IMPACT design language will make it to the Q501 as well, thereby giving it a distinct interior layout.
The Tata Q501 will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine (Fiat sourced) that churns out around 174 HP of power. The SUV is expected to reach the showrooms sometime in 2018.
