Tata Punch Facelift Launch Soon, Details Leaked

Tata Punch facelift to get EV inspired design details and new features

Tata Punch facelift is about to hit the showrooms soon with updated petrol and CNG variants expected to launch just in time for the upcoming festive season. The Punch, which debuted in 2021, has consistently performed well in the Indian market, frequently outselling models like the Maruti Swift and Hyundai Creta. These forthcoming updates aim to enhance the vehicle’s appeal by offering a more advanced and premium driving experience, ensuring the Punch remains competitive in the crowded sub-4-metre SUV segment.

Facelift Enhancements: Exterior and Interior Updates

Spy shots of the 2024 Tata Punch facelift suggest notable changes to its exterior design, particularly in the front fascia. The updated model is likely to feature a revamped front grille and redesigned headlamps inspired by the upcoming Punch EV, giving it a more modern and aggressive appearance. While the side profile will sport new alloy wheels, the rear of the vehicle will see minimal changes, retaining a design familiar to current Punch owners.

Among the most significant updates is the introduction of a sunroof in specific variants, catering to the growing demand for premium features in compact SUVs. This new addition will be available in the newly introduced Adventure S and Adventure + S variants, which also benefit from enhancements like rear AC vents and a centre console with an armrest, aimed at boosting passenger comfort.

Inside, the facelifted Punch is set to offer a more tech-savvy experience. A standout feature will be the inclusion of a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a first for its segment, equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This larger display is expected to greatly enhance the user interface and driving experience, appealing to tech-conscious drivers. Additionally, Tata Motors is incorporating a wireless charger and fast C-type charging options in the higher-end Accomplished and Creative Personas, catering to the needs of modern motorists who rely heavily on their devices.

Other interior upgrades could include Tata’s two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, a design feature seen in the automaker’s more premium models. Top-spec variants may also come with ventilated front seats, further elevating the Punch’s luxury quotient.

Model Variants: What’s New and What’s Gone

The facelift introduces a number of changes to the Punch’s model lineup. The Pure Rhythm variant has been discontinued and a new Pure (O) variant has been introduced, offering added features such as central locking, all-power windows, electric adjustable ORVMs and wheel covers.

The Adventure S and Adventure + S are new sunroof-equipped variants that will come with upgraded interiors, including the rear AC vents and armrest-equipped centre console. Meanwhile, the Accomplished variant has also been phased out, replaced by the Accomplished +, which will feature the 10.25-inch infotainment system and other tech upgrades.

The Creative variant will now be available as Creative + and Creative + S, both of which will offer the newly added tech features, including the wireless charger and fast C-type charger, further boosting the appeal of the higher-end models.

Powertrain Options: Petrol and CNG

Mechanically, the facelifted Punch will retain its existing 1.2-litre petrol engine, which delivers 87.8 PS and 115 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT. The CNG variant will also continue to be available, with a power output of 73.5 PS and 103 Nm when running on CNG. A potential new addition could be an AMT gearbox option for the CNG variant, adding convenience and likely broadening the model’s appeal to a wider audience.

Launch and Pricing

Tata Motors is expected to announce the updated Punch within the next few days, with an estimated starting price of around Rs. 6 lakhs. These updates position the Punch to better compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Exter, Maruti Ignis and the likes, ensuring it maintains its strong presence in the market.
