Tata Motors plans to alter its strategy for the Nano in order to tap more buyers and address issues faced by first time car customers. The Sanand facility in Guajarat will start producing Nano at full throttle from early next year and thus the company plans to open outlets to ensure special assistance to first time buyers. Tata Motors already has a tie up with a large number of banks to finance the Nano.
“A closer analysis showed that two-wheeler owners who want to buy Nano are wary of visiting automotive dealerships. Most of them do not have even driving licence and need special assistance and guidance. Therefore, we have decided to set up about 800 Nano outlets in the country by March next,” Mr R. Ramakrishnan, VP Commercial, Passenger Car Business Unit, Tata Motors said.
