In a bid to resurrect the Aria from the grave, Tata Motors has officially announced the launch of the 2014 Aria facelift in India. On the outset, the Aria isn’t all-new as Tata Motors wants us to believe, but rather an updated version of the existing model. With competitors eating up majority of sales, Tata is hoping to cope up with the market by offering more gadgetry and more power making the new model a value for money proposition. The Aria website had already been updated since a month now.
Inside the cabin, the update to the Tata Aria includes better quality plastics and the addition of new gadgetry. The crossover retains the 2+3+3 seating layout, but gets new plush leather seats and beige fabric upholstery to boast off. The Aria facelift now gets a very cool JBL-Harman sound system that comes loaded with six speakers and four tweeters, NAVTEQ navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, rain sensing wipers and auto sensing headlamps apart from other creature comforts. In terms of safety, the crossover is loaded with features such as six airbags, ABS, ESP, EBD, Traction Control System (TCS) and all-wheel disc brakes.
Other features include Selectable 4×4 with Torque-on-Demand System (on the top spec variant), follow me home headlamps, rain sensing wipers, keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs and much more. Tata also claims that the updated model is cheaper to own with the new timing belt for improved durability, new replaceable cartridge-type pre-filter for improved filtering and enhancing robustness of the fuel injection system.
Powering the Tata Aria is the updated 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine that now produces 150 PS of power, 10 PS higher than the predecessor and 320 Nm of torque. The crossover now achieves an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 15.5 km/l. The exteriors now sport black bezel headlamps and clear lens tail lamps. The 2014 Tata Aria is available in three colour options namely pearl white, arctic silver and quartz black colours while the older maroon colour has been discontinued. The Aria facelift is available in three trims – PURE LX, PLEASURE and PRIDE 4×4.
