Tata Motors unveiled the production ready Nexon at the 2016 Auto Expo and the new compact SUV from the Indian manufacturer is designed according to the automaker’s new design language.
The Tata Nexon is a compact SUV that was under development for quite sometime now after its global debut as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. The production ready compact SUV was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo and the manufacturer has recently uploaded a video featuring Pratap Bose, Head of Design, explaining its design highlights.
The Tata Nexon is designed according to the company’s new ‘Impact Design’ philosophy. The front fascia looks impressive with the honeycomb grille painted in piano black between the new projector headlamps with square LEDs while the fog lamps are surrounded by grey and white finishes.
The roofline slopes towards the rear-end making the Tata Nexon look like a coupe while the roof is painted in grey. The sides of the compact SUV have white ceramic finish on the waistline which gives it a very fresh look. It rides on 16-inch wheels that improves the ground clearance.
Coming to the rear end of the Tata Nexon, it gets new LED tail lamps connected by a white ceramic bar that also forms a horizontal V while surrounding two sides of the tail lamp. The rear bumper is also done in grey and it houses the license plate right in the centre.
The Tata Nexon is going to be powered by a new 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 110 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque while it is expected to be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an automatic gearbox as an option (likely an AMT). The compact SUV will take on the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and the new Maruti Vitara Brezza.
