The Tata Nexon will be launched on 21st September, while testing for the AMT version has just begun.
The Tata Nexon will be launched on 21st September and the compact SUV has already started reaching dealerships. Spy shots of the XE, XM and XT variants have been spotted at dealerships. The company has also commenced testing of the AMT variant of the compact SUV and the same has been spied recently. Expect Tata Motors to launch the Nexon with the AMT gearbox in early 2018.
The spy pictures reveal an AMT gear lever similar to the one seen on the Zest and Tiago. The gear lever gets chrome finishing and a piano black finished base with chrome surrounds. It is likely that Tata will be offering the AMT on the top XZ trim courtesy the floating 6.5-inch touchscreen on the dashboard and automatic climate control.
The AMT gearbox will be a 6-speed unit with creep function, 3-drive modes (City, Eco and Sport) and a manual mode for an engaging drive. Both the engines on the Nexon will be offered with the AMT gearbox. The Nexon draws power from a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 HP of power and 170 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 110 HP of power and 260 Nm of torque. Both these engines will come paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Nexon XE (base) trim misses out on the projector headlamps, LED DRLs, body coloured ORVMs and door handles, alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, rear AC vent, climate control, 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and roof rails. The XM trim also loses out on the above features except for rear parking sensors. The Nexon XT gets body coloured ORVMs and door handles, rear AC vent, climate control, driving modes, rear parking sensors and roof rails.
