Tata Nexon facelift receives five star safety rating in Global NCAP crash test
Tata Nexon facelift has been crash tested in Global NCAP and the compact SUV has yet again received full five star safety rating. It has scored 32.22 points out of 34 for Adult Occupant Protection and 44.52 points out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection.
According to Global NCAP’s frontal impact test, the protection offered to the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck was good. Driver’s and passenger’s chest showed adequate protection. Driver’s and passenger’s knees showed good protection. Driver’s tibias showed adequate protection and passenger’s tibias showed good protection. Footwell area was rated as stable. The bodyshell was rated as stable and is capable of withstanding further loadings.
For the side impact, head, abdomen and pelvis showed good protection, chest showed adequate protection. Side pole impact feedback from GNCAP – curtain airbags are standard and meet the fitment requirements showing good protection to the head and pelvis, marginal protection to the chest and adequate protection to the abdomen.
ESC is fitted as standard and the performance shown in the test was acceptable according to Global NCAP’s latest requirements. SBR is standard in all seating positions and meets the requirements.
Tata Nexon is already quite a popular car in its segment and with this fresh update of safety rating, it will further get a boost in sales. The carmaker is also coming up with a new CNG variant of the Nexon that will be available with a turbo petrol engine, first of a kind combination in the Indian market.
With the launch of CNG variants, Tata Nexon will be available in petrol, diesel, CNG and electric powertrain options.
