Tata Nexon EV scores 5 stars for both adult and child occupants

The Tata Nexon EV has earned a 5 star rating for both adult and child protection in the latest round of crash tests conducted by Bharat New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). This milestone highlights the Nexon EV’s robust safety features, placing it among the safest vehicles in its segment.

The Nexon EV, alongside the Punch EV underwent rigorous testing, both securing 5 star ratings. These assessments underscore Tata Motors’ commitment to safety across its electric vehicle lineup.

The Nexon EV achieved an impressive 29.86 points out of a possible 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) category. The evaluation included two critical tests:

  • Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test: The Nexon EV scored 14.26 out of 16 points.
  • Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test: The vehicle achieved 15.60 out of 16 points.

In the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category, the Nexon EV scored:

  • A dynamic score of 23.95 out of 24.
  • A perfect 12 out of 12 for the Child Restraint System (CRS) installation.
  • 9 points out of 13 for vehicle assessment.

These results apply to both the Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR) versions of the Nexon EV, which underwent testing in May 2024.

The Punch EV, another model from Tata Motors, also secured a 5-star rating in both AOP and COP categories, highlighting the brand’s consistent safety performance across different electric vehicle models.

While Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP have similar testing protocols, there are notable differences. Bharat NCAP’s maximum score for AOP is 32 points, compared to 34 points in Global NCAP. Despite this slight variation, the methodologies and rating assignments remain largely aligned, ensuring that vehicles tested under either program meet stringent safety standards.
