Tata Nexon engines revealed, the compact SUV will be powered by two new 110 HP engines.
As Tata Motors gears up to launch its most expected and awaited compact SUV the Nexon this festive season, the carmaker has revealed the engine specifications of the Nexon well in advance. The Tata Nexon will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Initially showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Nexon is a short form for ‘NEXT-ON’ which is an inspiration from next level of things, says Tata. Designed at Tata’s in-house facility in Pune, two new generation engines will make their debut in the Nexon.
A 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine from the Revotron family producing 110 HP of maximum power and 170 Nm of peak torque and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine producing 110 HP of maximum power and 260 Nm of peak torque powers the Tata Nexon. Both these engines will come paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, the diesel engine might also get an AMT option.
Both the petrol and diesel engines will come with multi-drive modes like Eco, City and Sport. The Revotron engine will be manufactured at the Sanand facility while the Revotorq motor will be produced at the Ranjangaon facility.
When launched this festive season, the Tata Nexon will spice up the sub-compact SUV space in India that is currently dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Other rivals include the Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V and Hyundai i20 Active.
