Tata Motors will be concentrating on mass market offerings that include the Zest, Bolt and the upcoming Kite twins, while the Nexon compact SUV cannot be expected before April 2016.
First showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the Nexon compact SUV concept was Tata’s answer to the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and the slew of crossovers that popped up in recent times. With the company’s promise to launch two new products every year till 2020, the Nexon compact SUV was expected to hit the market late next year to take on the competition, especially with the segment booming in sales at present. However, there has been a slight alteration in the automaker’s plans as the company will be concentrating on more mass market offerings in the coming years which include the new Bolt as well as the Kite twins.
This fiscal Tata Motors launched the Zest compact sedan which has been welcomed with rave reviews; however, the company has been finding it difficult to keep up with the demand especially that of the diesel AMT version. Focusing on one product at a time, the Bolt launch was also pushed to early 2015. Similarly, the next financial year will be dedicated to the Kite hatchback scheduled to arrive in mid 2015 and will be replacing the Indica; while the Kite based compact sedan is also on the cards and will be launched by the end of the 2015-16 fiscal, replacing the Indigo.
Coming the Tata Nexon, the automaker has pushed the launch to the 2016-17 fiscal and will be joined by the next generation Nano as the second new product to hit the market that respective year. In the meantime, Tata Motors plans to regularly update its existing lineup over the next couple of years and has a Safari Storme facelift and an AMT equipped Nano on the cards. The Nexon SUV shares its underpinnings with the Zest and Bolt, and will get the same list of features and engine options to boast off.
