Tata Nexon AMT showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, India launch soon.
The Tata Nexon was launched in the Indian market just a few months ago (five months to be precise) and has been quite on a roll. The company’s first compact SUV until now was available only in the manual transmission guise in both petrol and diesel engines. Giving heed to the city drivers and the chaotic traffic they go through, the homegrown automaker has taken the wraps off the Nexon AMT.
Mechanically and visually the Nexon AMT remains identical to the manual variants save for the AMT gear knob inside the cabin. The AMT gearbox is available with both petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor puts out 110 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque while the 1.5-litre diesel mill churns out 110 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque.
With the option of an AMT gearbox, Nexon finally brings the convenience quotient to the table. Its rivals, the Ford EcoSport gets a torque-convertor, the Mahindra TUV300 has an AMT gearbox on offer and the Vitara Brezza offers no option of an automatic or an AMT gearbox. All the variants of the Nexon AMT are expected to be priced keenly.
