Tata Nano electric vehicle launch under consideration
Tata Nano is likely to make a comeback as an electric vehicle in the Indian market. The carmaker is considering the resurrection of people’s car.
Tata Motors currently has the widest EV portfolio in the country having Tiago, Tigor and Nexon EV for the mass market. With the introduction of Nano EV, they can cater to a wider audience.
However, they won’t plonk the electric motor in the same Nano that was offered and launch it in the market. It will get a substantial makeover including new platform suitable for an electric powertrain, new suspension and tyres along with a redesigned body.
We can expect it to carry the same silhouette but with a modern design language. The interior is also expected to get a makeover with a new dashboard having the latest equipment.
In terms of the electric powertrain, it might come with a small motor offering enough punch for city usage and a range of up to 200 km on single charge.
If priced well, it will be a big hit for the metro cities. Tata Motors is betting big on the EV future and plans to launch 10 EV models in the next 5 years.
