The Tata Nano can soon be bought over the shelf without any booking and waiting drama and the government of Karnataka is currently considering getting 10,000 cars. The cars are not being bought for the ministers but are to be rented out in Bengaluru to be used as autorickshaws. The profit from this scheme will be shared between the government and the driver’s at 40:60 ratio. The Karnataka government may invest money for buying the Nano’s either from its own resources or take loans for the same. The difference in the cost between a Nano and a regular autorickshaw is not much and the insufficient number of autorickshaws in the state has prompted the Government to take action.
