We are frequently updating you exclusively about the upcoming products of Tata Motors and their details. We all are aware about their two upcoming offerings (codenamed Falcon 4 and Falcon 5) that will be showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. Meanwhile the Falcon 4 hatchback will be unveiled on 3rd of February. According to their HORIZONEXT initiative, Tata Motors will also release updates of the existing products. We already leaked full details of the Vista Tech variant that will be launched on 21st January. In the coming days, Tata Motors will also launch the updated version of Sumo Grande, which will be renamed as the Tata Movus.
The Tata Movus will be primarily targeted towards the fleet operators instead of private buyers to churn out volumes. What’s new, you ask? Well, there are a few changes to improve the reliability of mechanicals and to make its cabin ergonomically sound than before. There won’t be any exterior changes to the Tata Movus. On the inside, the MUV will come with four seating configurations (including new middle captain seats), revised seating for more comfort and cable type latch in the doors for easy operation. We can expect slight visual changes on the dashboard as well.
Tata Motors has replaced the 2.2-litre DICOR engine with the 2.2-litre VARICOR engine now, which is the same engine with same specifications as before but with improved reliability and fuel economy. The 2.2-litre VARICOR engine is derived from the Tata Safari Storme but with a lower state of tune. It produces 120 PS of power with 250 Nm of torque and returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 15.2 km/l. Tata Motors offers 1 lakh km of warranty with the VARICOR engine. The clutch has also been updated for reduced effort and improved life of upto 1 lakh km.
The gearshift quality has been enhanced for the Tata Movus along with a new rack and pinion steering system for comfortable drivability. Tata Motors claims that the new offering will come with low NVH levels, as they have provided new design of body mounts on the Movus. The suspension setup has been tweaked to reduce body roll and improve ride quality. The Tata Movus will be equipped with revised brakes that now get wear resistant material to ensure higher brake life. Tata Motors is competing head on with the Chevrolet Tavera and Mahindra Xylo D2 MAXX. Prices are expected to be in the range of Rs. 7-8.5 lakhs for the Tata Movus.
