Tata Motors is readying a new hatchback which is codenamed XO or Kite. It will be launched in 2015 and it will compete with the Maruti Celerio.
Tata Motors has entered a new phase after launching the Zest sedan and now the upcoming Bolt hatchback that will be launched soon. Apart from these two models, the Indian automobile manufacturer is coming up with three other vehicles that will be completely new and will give a really tough fight to competitors. First up, the most significant new launch from the company will be the all-new Kite hatchback. The Kite will be replacing the Indica which is really ageing now. The Kite will also get all-new styling elements and it will look much better than even the Zest and Bolt.
The Tata Kite will fight it out with the Maruti Celerio, WagonR, Chevrolet Beat and Hyundai i10. It will get nicely-styled interiors too. Tata will plonk in its new 1.05-litre 3-cylinder CRDI engine churning out 64 HP of power and 140 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox in the Kite. A new 1.2-litre petrol unit will also debut with the vehicle. There are possibilities of an AMT variant with the Kite. Also, possibilities of CNG and LPG variants cannot be ruled out since people are preferring alternative fuels thanks to high petrol and diesel prices.
After the Kite, Tata Motors will also come up with a new sub 4-metre compact sedan that will be slotted below the Zest. This new compact sedan will replace the Indigo CS and compete with other compact sedans. Tata is also readying the new Nexon compact SUV that will fight it out with the Ford EcoSport, Hyundai ix25, Renault Duster and Maruti’s upcoming compact SUV. The Kite hatchback is currently undergoing testing and will be launched in 2015.
