Tata Motors has announced a price cut for the Altroz premium hatchback’s diesel variants to the tune of Rs. 40,000/-.
Except the base XE variant, the price reduction has been implemented to all the other variants, namely, XM, XT, XZ and XZ(O).
Now, barring the base variant, all the variants are priced at circa Rs. 1.20 lakhs more than their petrol counterparts. The base variant however commands over Rs. 1.50 lakhs for the diesel-engined model in comparison with the petrol.
Further, the difference in ex-showroom cost between all the diesel variants of the Altroz does not exceed Rs. 70,000/- and the price difference between the base XE variant and the XM variant which sits immediately above it is now at Rs. 51,000/-.
The fact that petrol variants of the 5-star-rated hatchback have been opted by more customers than the diesel models, so far, might have also worked towards Tata Altroz price cut.
With the festive season coming up, this exercise might have been made to aid the hatchback fetch more more sales and with the Altroz offering two engine options, while its main competitors like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Honda Jazz come in petrol-only guise, might play to its advantage.
