Tata Motors is getting ready to go green in the future and showcases some of the eco-friendly concepts at the ongoing 2014 Auto Expo. One of the green concepts includes Tata Magic Iris Electric. Yes, it is the same Magic Iris commercial passenger vehicle that gets powered by an electric motor. For some eye candy, Tata Motors has treated the Magic Iris Electric with funky exteriors and interiors. The Iris Electric gets blue and white theme on the outside including fancy alloy wheels that gives the Iris a futuristic appearance.
The interiors of the Tata Magic Iris Electric get black and blue colour tones. The centre console is electric blue and gets an integrated 7-inch touch screen, which is tucked in neatly. The tablet actually acts as an infotainment system that displays all the necessary information related to the vehicle and its electric powertrain. The dash mounted gear lever also gets blue colour treatment but the rest of the cabin layout remains more or less the same.
The Tata Magic Iris Electric has 100 km range and runs on two battery modules that can be charged in eight hours of time. The lithium-ion battery modules can also be charged by 120 watt roof-mounted solar panel. Powering the Magic Iris Electric is an induction motor that produces 9 kW of maximum power and 42 Nm of peak torque, mated to a single-speed trans-axle. The Magic Iris Electric is a clever electric vehicle that can be seen in the future.
