Tata Motors has entered the Australian market, marking a milestone for the automaker’s global expansion program. Tata Motors has a heritage built on toughness and it has made an alliance with Fusion Automotive, a part of the Walkinshaw Group to start its operations in Australia. The alliance with Fusion Automotive is to understand the requirements of local customers and to set up a wide dealership network. The first vehicle to be launched by Tata Motors in the Australian market is the light commercial vehicle Tata Xenon, which is specifically designed and has been tested extensively on Australian soil.
Fusion Automotive is the distributor for Tata Motors in Australia. The light commercial vehicle segment is the third largest segment in the Australian market with the presence of 13 major brands in the 4×2 and 4×4 categories. The Australian specific Xenon carries the same design elements from the global model and is powered by a 2.2-litre DICOR engine which is Euro 5 compliant, the transmission is mated to a manual setup. The Xenon will be available with the options of a cab chassis, single and dual cab variants. The buyer’s have an option to select a 4×2 or 4×4 driveline for the entire range.
The Tata Xenon comes with driver and front passenger airbags, power windows as well as Bluetooth and USB connectivity as standard across all variants. The customers can also select a range of optional features like touchscreen navigation system, reverse parking sensors and a reverse camera. The Xenon will offer value proposition to buyers by offering a comprehensive after sales program which includes a 3 years or 1,00,000 kms warranty and an additional 3 years roadside assistance for all the variants.
