After witnessing a very disappointing period in the Indian auto market during the past three years, Tata Motors is making a comeback with all-new products and a completely new strategy aimed at bringing new products in the market across different segments. The Indian automaker plans to launch a couple of new models every year till 2020 as the company is looking forward to realize its aggressive future plans in the Indian car market.
As part of its short term goal, Tata plans to launch at least two new passenger vehicles every year, while the long term objective is to increase market share and turn profitability. While the company did not share any details about the products that will be launched, the automaker stated that the new products will also cater to global markets and will service various attractive segments. Based on this new strategy, Tata has been working hard to launch the Bolt hatchback and Zest compact sedan in the country in the coming months.
The new vehicles will also be carrying a new powertrain in the form of the home grown 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine. Shifting its focus to petrol powerplants, the Revotron engine is vital for Tata’s future plans and will power a range of vehicles in the future. The company is showcasing the new engine through Revotron labs across 15 cities to customers and will extend the same to digital platforms as well. The Revotron range of engines will be manufactured at the company’s Pune plant.
Apart from the Bolt and Zest, the company is also planning to launch the Nano AMT version as early as next month, which was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year. Tata Motors has been working on a range of new products that will debut in the coming years, and include products like the Kite codenamed small car that will be replacing the Indica next year, while the Ford EcoSport rivalling Nexon compact SUV is also in the pipeline. Tata has also been working on the Safari SUV, which will see an upgraded version being launched soon.
