Tata Motors is gearing up to introduce the Hexa MPV in the market and the vehicle looks very promising, at least on paper.
The Tata Hexa is an upcoming MPV that is going to replace the Aria. The vehicle was earlier leaked in pictures and we saw that Tata has done a great job in designing it. The vehicle will be launched in 2016 and right now the automaker is carrying out testing of the vehicle. The prototype that is undergoing testing is fully covered but what we can make out is that it is quite big in size. The Hexa measures 4764 mm in length, 1895 mm in width and 1780 mm in height. It also has a wheelbase of 2850 mm.
The Hexa will be having very premium styling and there are going to be lots of glossy and aluminium finished elements. The front features a very sharp face which looks quite appealing and also leagues better than the current lot of Tata cars. The bumpers have a sporty touch to them and even the DRLs are integrated very nicely. The side profile also has a very rugged feel to it while the rear has a design that is very pleasant to the eyes.
The Tata Hexa will be made available with a 2.2-litre VARICOR, 4-cylinder, diesel engine that produces 154.2 HP of power at 4000 RPM and 400 Nm of torque from 1700-2700 RPM. The engine will be matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox but we cannot rule out the possibility of an automatic gearbox. An optional 4WD system will be offered along with a Terrain Response feature. The vehicle will be getting features like projector lights, ESP, LED tail lights, etc.
The production version of the Tata Hexa is likely to be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and the vehicle will be launched soon after that. While the Aria was a failed product on arrival itself, the Hexa has a lot of hopes riding on it. Tata might just hit the jackpot with this MPV if it fares well in the market. The Hexa will have the Toyota Innova as its primary competitor.
