Tata Hexa Concept Revealed At The 2015 Geneva Motor Show

Tata Hexa Concept showcases new design language with hi-tech interiors and advance Terrain Response all-wheel drive system. Launch expected in early 2016.

The Tata Hexa gets muscular yet modern styling cues

Tata Motors has revealed the Hexa Concept, which is based on the Aria platform. However, there is almost no hint of Aria in its design as well as interiors of the upcoming crossover. The Indian automaker has showcased a new direction to their design language and the level of technology to be offered in their future cars. The Tata Hexa gets heavily revised, modern exteriors along with luxurious yet practical interiors with a six-seat layout and a new powertrain with new four-wheel drive system having Terrain Response feature.

The first glimpse of the Tata Hexa silhouette reminds you of the Aria, just like the Tata Bolt, which is reminiscent of the Vista silhouette. However, the new bold and muscular styling cues, gives the Hexa a different stance of a serious crossover. The front-end looks aggressive with heavy creases on the bonnet, dark projector headlamps, LED DRLs, black honeycomb grille with brushed silver accents and a wide airdam with skid plate. The side profile gets huge 19-inch alloys, boddy cladding on the lower half and floating roof design. The rear gets LED tail lamps, lots of chrome and dual exhausts.

The Tata Hexa’s cabin gets soft touch materials with beige twin-stitched leather upholstery and a six-seat layout. To further amplify the luxurious feel, it gets ambient lighting. Tata Motors claim that it has the longest cabin in its class. The dashboard gets dual-tone beige and black colour treatment, which looks good in a layered style. The centre console consists of automatic climate control and large touch screen display. The steering wheel is inspired from the Zest and Bolt but is slightly revised to give a premium feel. The instrument cluster looks hi-tech, giving loads of information.

Powering the Tata Hexa is a 2.2-litre VARICOR 400 diesel engine that produces 154 BHP of power at 4000 RPM with 400 Nm of torque at 1700-2700 RPM. This engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The Tata Hexa gets a torque-on-demand Terrain Response system for its 4WD mechanism (derived from Land Rover). Other key features include automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, ESP and 6 airbags. The Tata Hexa seems like a promising product if priced well for the Indian market. We expect Tata Motors to launch the new crossover at the 2016 Auto Expo.
